How prevalent has this sort of thing been in your personal experiences? I'm not Indian, so this is an in-group/out-group categorization that's largely invisible to me. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-cisco-lawsuit/california-accuses-cisco-of-job-discrimination-based-on-indian-employees-caste-idUSKBN2423YE
Ha ha. Brilliant. Indians bringing their casteist shit to the workplace.
The casteism among Indians is not as high as it would be in some remote village of India. But if you’re a Dalit and it gets shared around, you’ll definitely see people’s reaction change and some hiring managers won’t even hire you. That’s why most Dalits change their last name and keep it hidden as much as possible. - An indian Dalit
Castes are an evil institution. If this is true i hope Cisco gets their ass handed to them in court.
I've seen it before at work in tech industry in US. I saw coworkers all treat a new coworker like he was radioactive, they wouldn't talk to him or work directly with him.
