We've literally topped a million dead Americans and people are acting like Covid is no big deal. Covid isn't over just because it's convenient to pretend otherwise.
We're screwed, basically. Governments and companies are choosing to pretend the pandemic is over because that's what everyone wants to believe.
I've heard from friends in higher level leadership positions at other companies that they had started factoring in anticipated workforce impacts of people being out due to COVID in their annual planning (I have no idea if Block is doing this formally, but I know of individual teams that have taken it upon themselves to reduce their planned capacity for the upcoming quarters just expecting people to be out due to COVID).
Yep, writing an average of 1 week of downtime per person for covid for the next 6 months into my schedules. This is on top of a 3 weeks per person of vacation because people deserve it after the last two years.
Governments and companies are gonna go full steam ahead on pretending Covid is over regardless of the science because people have convinced themselves that Covid doesn't exist as long as you act like it doesn't.
itβs a metaphor. Iβm definitely not going to heed anything this time around. Ask you can tell most other people packing concerts and such feel the same. I played along, βflattened the curveβ wore a mask, got vaxxed and boosted. Let individuals be responsible for themselves again.
Right, nobody should be jailed. Forcing many people to stay in the same place for 8 hours a day is jailing too. Both returns to office and WFH shouldnβt be mandatory.
