Can Amazon L5 TC go close to 300K or above in Seattle

Recently got a L5 offer from Amazon. Have competing offers that are above 300K from companies with similar reputation. Not sure if anyone has experience with L5 TC come close to 300K? Right now the offer sits around 260K

Hmm.. never heard sde2 making $300k. You can always try though using your counter

Amazon odVN70 Mar 14, 2019

Only from stock growth

Microsoft checai1217 OP Mar 14, 2019

You mean the package cannot go above 300k at the offer time?

Amazon odVN70 Mar 14, 2019

Never heard of that for an L5 SDE

Yeah , you cannot use stock growth in your package. Your TC is still therefore 260k

Amazon 🤦‍♂️fcuk Mar 14, 2019

Depends on the acronym TC (total compensation) : $360k TC (targeted compensation) : $260k

Bottom line, you’re already at the top of the pay range for SDE2 at Amazon. Which other companies do U have offers from?

Amazon Cynimist Mar 14, 2019

Amazon in Bay Area can do up to 280 for L5, and can break 300 with a VP exception for very strong candidates. But you can't get to 300 in Seattle, no.

You can! For new grad

Amazon amazons Mar 14, 2019

That’s an extremely strong sde2 offer already. More than my newly promoted SDE3s.

Uber tttrr Mar 15, 2019

What the range for sde3?

Amazon lolwhat Mar 15, 2019

How much do newly promoted SDE3s make?

I don't think that's true. Comp team bounds exception requests. I do not know if VP can override comp team - from what I have seen they can't, likely because divergent pay creates liability for employment law and discrimination claims.

No way

Amazon jefe_bezos Mar 14, 2019

Nope. Trying to reinterview for an L6 is your only chance.
