1mil house costs around 4500/month in Bay and around 6500/month in Austin.

Also there's no 1% cap on tax appraised value per year which can make property taxes bit unpredictable?

Will you be okay having a colleague working full time remote from Austin once wfh trend fades.

  @Unity State income tax is high but it's not really 13.5% for most people. Even with income in that bracket, my effective rate is more like 9-10%. TX is still a huge savings in any case.

  Wow 2.52%, that’s astronomical. Makes sense given no income tax. In comparison, I pay 1.14% in east bay and new house will be 1.8% including Mello Roos

I checked Zillow yesterday out of curiosity and quickly found several $1M+ SFH and condos around Austin had lowered their asking prices by around $100k in the last few months.

  450 in sf is an 41k in taxes. If your employer has a 10% col adjustment for moving to Austin you're losing 45k. Then if you have a 600k home you're paying 9k extra in taxes and it goes up every year. Obviously that's only for new jobs since they don't take unvested shares, but what are you going to do move back every two years?
