TD Ameritrade is so ancient that I need to fill out a paper form and mail the letter to their office to convert my IRA to Roth. I want the conversion happen in 2019 since I'll have higher income next year. Since today is the last day of 2019, is the stamp postmark date or the date TD process the conversion request considered as the Roth conversion date for tax purpose?

Why don’t you want to wait for a future year when your earnings will be lesser ?
I think this is the right question. Were you unemployed most of last year?
This is exactly why I went to Wealthfront from Ameritrade. Wealthfront does the Roth conversion automatically if you opt to. Fucking Ameritrade is like a 1900s stockbroker chalkboard turned into html, and you have to get on the phone for anything non obvious.
