Can I interview with other teams at Netflix if I got rejected on a take home assignment with one?
Hi Blind Community, This is my first post here and I must say I am bracing myself up for the replies. :D As in the headline I got rejected after the take home assignment with one of the teams at Netflix. Initially when I was contacted by the recruiter I was told that my experience matched with couple of other teams as well. I chose the one over the others as I liked their profile better though my current experience didn't exactly match there. During the HM and recruiter calls I did mention the gap between expectations in the team and my current work-ex. Having said that, is it possible to interview with the other teams where my experience was a better fit initially or do I have to wait until I can apply again. If so for how long ? Just a ballpark would be great. Any advice will be highly appreciated.
If you get rejected on not a good background match, you can apply another team immediately. If you are rejected on home assignment, it's like saying your technical skills don't meet the expectations. And no other hiring managers will take it up in the near term. When in doubt, discuss this openly with the recruiter. S/he is supposed to give you an honest answer.

Idk about Netflix, but yes for Walmart, as it happened to me (after a failed take-home)

I would reach out to the same recruiter explaining that you were optimistic about the role that you applied for, and if you can get a chance to interview with the other team. Worst case scenario you get a no, but at least you would have tried. Also note that positions do fill out quickly. And the recruiter get 100's of resume, you should provide a good reason on why you should get a second chance. Finally most big companies have 6-12 months gap before you can resubmit your resume.
