I'm currently on an H1b visa. I just also got certified as a soccer referee. I want to referee soccer games over the weekend, but I realized that most of the leagues will pay me - and give me a 1099 at the end of the year. Is this in violation of my H1b visa? I don't know if there is an option to referee without pay.
You are eager to be kicked out I see
Watch out for the banana peels on the floor
Refree without pay is volunteering. I believe that should be allowed....( I would equate it to volunteering at the food shelter ). If you get 1099, then it's a trouble.
Technically you cannot even take a volunteer job on H1b As you will be taking away a job from someone who could get paid for it
That means....volunteering at homeless shelter is also prohibited if you're on h1b ?. I used to volunteer with non profit, where some of the members were salaried employees.
I'd have to agree with Apple here.
Nope.
Which reminds me... is it ok to work as soccer referee at the weekends, if I have green card? Do big tech companies have any rule against it?
I C E...
