As diversity is an important factor for company to grow. Can blind hiring really help in bringing more diversity? Or company is good even without diversity
i think one university tried blind faculty applications. result was less diversity. they cancelled the program shortly :)
diversity success corelation doesnt mean diversity brings success. it is the other way. succesful and rich companies can afford diversity hires.
Sad but true. With everyone chasing qualified diversity candidates, they usually get multiple offers and high TC numbers. This affects startups and small/medium sized companies that don't have the capacity to pay that much TC.
Still, majority of successful software companies are founded by "diversity candidates". Gates, Jobs, Page, Brin, Zuk - neither of them is Indian or Chinese. My theory - software engineering is simply not glamorous enough for white Americans. Unlike management or law.
they are not "hires", they are founders. they are all european which is not the diversity that is sought after today. nothing stops "underrepresented minorities" to found a company.
Europeans? Brin was brought in very young, I understand. Who else there is European?
Blind hiring will get you whites, Asians, and Indians. That's pretty diverse, but we all know that's not what people mean when they use that cliché.
Define blind hiring
Blind hiring techniques include blind screening, blind pre-employment testing, and blind interviewing. You can read more here: https://www.hackerearth.com/blog/talent-assessment/blind-hiring-automated-skill-assessment/
Depends on how you define diversity. If Indian and Chinese people count then tech is one of the most diverse industries in America. As for gender, efforts have to begin before college.
I didn't get it - you mean least diverse, right?
