I have ex coworker joined Google sometime ago. He gave a positive referral after I was contacted by recruiter.

Can this boost my chance to clear my onsite?

  • Google’s interview process doesn’t care if you are referred. The interviewers are not from your eventual hiring team if you pass HC and they don’t know about your referral. The only way it helps is by getting your resume in front of a recruiter.

This is not true. There are different kinds of referrals. When you refer someone internally there are all sorts of questions like “have you worked with this person before” and “how would you rank them among other engineers.” If you get high praise from a well respect engineer at google that can absolutely carry some weight in a hiring decision.

      I hope u r right @bobjokin. Haha

This guy who referred me closely worked with me at previous job. And he asked me if I'm looking for opportunity so he can write me up a referral. Fingers crossed 🤞

Unless it's a small company or your referrer is directly tied to the role you're going for, it's highly unlikely that a referral would ever get you more than a higher chance of your application being looked at. Once it's been acknowledged as a referral, that's generally where the buck stops.

    Edit:
    TL;DR, lolno, not at Google.
