When I joined Google they gave me a sign-on bonus, but billed it as a “relocation” bonus. I assume they have it if you’re not relocating...but maybe not for L3 or non-SWE?
You get an initial RSU grant, but they changed the policy on refreshes a little while back. Basically, you don’t get an RSU refresh at the end of your first year, unless your manager gives you a discretionary one. (Which is lower than standard one.)
It’s more advantageous to start at end of year for refresh, so you only have to wait ~12mo for your first refresh vs. like 24mo if you start in January
What? Every company has joining bonus to lure good candidates. Ask for it. Say I want x amount as sign on. They can’t drop it just because you feel you’re worth.
