Like paypal fired 4 employees then people call it layoff. 😂

Many tech companies stock dropped 80%, still no one start to lay off.

I bet if we ever see some crash, the fed will come out to print money.

“I bet if we ever see some crash, the fed will come out to print money.”

    That’s not how it works

Yes it happens during crisis and the economy has recovered from the crisis. Unemployment rate is at all time low. Fed has dual mandate of max employment and price stability. Currently inflation is running hot and to achieve the 2nd mandate of price stability, they are aggressively raising rates to cool down the inflation and economy.

They will rethink about printing money only when economy has slowed down significantly and employment rates are going down. Won’t necessarily print after stock market crash.

You are confused between correlation and causation here about Fed actions.

I never said they will print after stock crash, I said they will print if a problem affects a large portion of population. Stock crash is not that, housing crash is not that unless it gets full blown like 2008.

Layoff just means person was let go for reasons other than performance (meaning not fired) it doesn’t have to be a mass layoff, it could just be one person.

Hello HR. Fired - let someone go for cause with the risk of being sued, so companies need good paperwork. Layoff - the term for everything other reason to let someone go - including performance.

Layoffs are used to make it sound nice. Especially in states with employer friendly laws.

There are no states in the US that are employee friendly…and people absolutely get fired for performance that’s the whole point of pip programs, to make paperwork proving the poor performance

With those printing last 2 years, there’ll be massive layoff unless we have 2x workers in this industry isn’t it?
