Can we use algorithmic trading using ML/AI/data analysis to predict stock prices? What are the best ways to start on this?
No
😂
Renaissance capital.
That's just lawyer speak for law of large numbers. Of course RenTech predicts returns. Predictions are correct when averaged over many samples, a single sample is dominated by noise.
There are lots of cases where signal-to-noise ratio is low (individual predictions are dominated by noise), but we still think of it as 'prediction'. Eg: predicting weather (temp) more than 4 days out, predicting click-through probability of a single ad, etc. I guess we have different definitions of what 'prediction' means.
Yeah, I’ve actually started a project to tackle this very problem. You in?
There are many factors to stock price ..it is like predicting what will happen tomorrow.. there can be other strategies which can work .
I might be interested. What techniques are you using? Stock market is nothing but probability. No one can guess it right cent percent of the times
Ask Jane Street how that's going.
Duh. Anyone can write code to predict stock prices. I’ve been doing it since 2007 and have been right 50.000000000001% of the time. Still on Blind yakking about TC.
Too bad you don’t have $1T.
@atrous do you even math dude? 1T at that rate isn’t even a dollar 😂
Theoretically yes, but you don’t have all the information in the market
You’re the first guy to think of this. Nobody else is doing it! Remember me when you have your billions.
Theoretically and practically impossible to do. If anyone says otherwise is either lying or doesn’t know anything about stocks.
