I saw other post about pregnancy loss and thought of posting this in blind. We have gone through three pregnancy losses (and that too in IVF with PGS tested embryos). Doctor said everything is fine and did many different tests(came out normal). We reached our emotional limit to try further and now thinking to get help of Surrogate mother. If any members of this blind community has had the experience getting Surrogacy in USA/India, the agency you worked with,.. if anything you can share, would be super helpful in our next journey. Tagging Google, Facebook since they have Surrogacy benefits and someone might have used it. Thank you so much.
Hope it all works out for you. A lot of us on blind take some of these things for granted and worry about TC, LC and competing offers. How stupid we are!
Not google or Facebook but we built our family via surrogacy. I Understand the pain involved with IVF journey. Happy to share my experience if interested but we didn’t use any benefits
Why did you chose to go via the surrogacy route?
This would be super helpful if you share your journey and what to look for when selecting surrogate mother, agency, attorney, location..
Three consecutive miscarriage with same pattern (heartbeat stopped at around 7 week) and hysteroscopy, laperoscopy, blood clot test, pre-genetic embryo testing, lost pregnancy tissue genetic test - all have been normal - Doctor terming this is unexplained infertility. Doctor said we might be super unlucky, could redo tests, try one more time with blood thinner. But, after all of these process since last 2 years, we reached our limit of mental strength.. And that's the reason we are thinking of Surrogacy.
Have you tried acupuncture? My niece had serious issues getting pregnant. Prior to attempting IVF, she went to an acupuncturist and with their help she was able to get pregnant. They just had a little girl. If you'be been through all the western testing, this might be a possibility to try. If certainly doesn't hurt. Good luck. I know exactly what you're going through. We went down the adoption path and now have a beautiful little boy.
Wow, I want to adopt. How difficult was the process? What were the major challenges?
Well we live in CA and got involved with the non profit Olive Crest. The program we got involved with was a Fos-Adopt... Foster to adoption. That narrows the field for you ahead of time. They were excellent to work with because they set the bar much higher than the state does, so I would recommend seeing if there's one in your area. The major challenge was we had our son for 5 months as a foster then right when the CA CPS worker overseeing the case was on vacation her boss and bosses boss took him and gave him to his aunt who suddenly showed up (birthmom's sister). He was with them for 4 months and when CPS started talking about adopting him, they said no. Because we had already stated we wanted him, they called us first. Within 2 days we had him back and 9 months later he was ours. They definitely fast tracked our adoption. It was AWFUL to lose him but we were supposed to be his mom and dad. Your house will have to be locked down.... Every cabinet in the kitchen and bathroom have to be locked. There are alot of hoops to jump through and you have to take classes and keep your certification current. But it was worth every minute for us. He's 3 now and our little man. There are some steps that must be followed to ensure all the t's are crossed. When you get to court you don't want anything to prevent a positive outcome. I'm happy to talk further if you'd like.
India is tabling a new bill pertaining to surrogacy. Seems to say that only family members etc. are allowed to be surrogates. https://undark.org/2019/11/07/india-commercial-surrogacy-ban/
I know this thread is old but feel sharing my experience could help someone out there as surrogacy is a journey. No medical explanation as to the reason we could not conceive. We then went through 6+ IVF cycles and no luck. It was exhausting to say the least. We changed clinics and our new doctor recommended checking out surrogacy and advised us not to waste our youth with all the stress of continuing to try more IVF cycles and I can say that advise was a god send and the whole process had close to broken us. We explored surrogacy in India (it was still open to foreign couples back then) and on the second try we were successful and now have a healthy child. We were about to try for #2 when the laws in India changed and India was no longer an option. Another journey to search for alternatives and we chose to try Georgia (the country in Europe). Process ongoing and what do you know COVID lol brought everything to a halt. We are glad with the one we have but would like another and hope to start again when things open up. Happy to answer any questions that might help others.
May I ask if Microsoft has any sort of surrogacy benefit or egg freezing benefit? I am an ex-msft but I never paid much attention to those till I really need surrogacy to help building my family because of my wife’s health condition. And may I ask if you work in U.S location? If yes, why do you prefer not using surrogacy in U.S. I am aware of US surrogacy is mostly legal but with higher expense. I just want to learn if they are more reasons beyond that. Thanks a lot! Best luck for your second journey.
I am located in the US and primary reason for going overseas was the cost. For our first successful surrogacy process, all in was about $40k. Microsoft does now have a few benefits. I think it covers 2 to 3 fully IVF cycles that you can use to retrieve and then store your wife's eggs. Then there is a 10k new surrogacy/adoption assistance after birth of the child. I will need to look if any other recent updates have been made
Hey op hope you are doing well. How did things work out find myself in a similar situation after 2 miscarriages, considering surrogacy so keen to know any information
Curious if you made any progress on this subject. It looks like we are planning to embark on this journey…
Another miscarriage for us unfortunately now working with a surrogacy agency
Just curious, if surrogacy is in a foreign county, does the child’s passport list that foreign country as place of birth?
