What is the average salary for Uber L5 level equivalent in top tech companies in Canada? What are some of the good tech companies in Canada?
In general, Canada TC numbers are exactly same as US ones. Except you get paid in CAD, so you lose value there, ie you get about a 30% "paycut" compared to if you're earning USD. Also, fewer tech companies in Canada, concentrated in Vancouver and Toronto only. Choices of opportunities is way less than US
Not quite. Seattle SDE2 tops at 240k, or 172k take-home. Toronto/Vancouver SDE2 tops at 200k, or 117k take-home. And in CAD. That's about 1.47x (or 0.68x the other way around) take home pay ratio even assuming CAD-USD parity. There might be things I'm missing in the math though, like health insurance and stuff? Afaik housing is way more affordable in Seattle when compared to the compensation there. Downtown Toronto 1-bed condo (5-10 years old close to subway) easily go for 2400/mo rent or 600k+ sale price. Some might justify that by argueing Toronto is a better place to live which could be fair.
In Montreal, good luck getting anything higher than 120K CAD base salary, and most companies offer no stock, so that would be your TC. If you're lucky, you could have a small bonus, something like 1 month salary.
This. In my experience, Tc in the Bay area is about 3x more than Toronto taking into account exchange rate or 2-2.5x if you disregard exchange rate.
Senior software engineer position at Toronto around TC 130k(cad) moved to Silicon Valley TC 230k(usd), currency rate and tax rate made it 3x more at Silicon Valley. But, but , but The house price also 2x or 3x , and labor also expense. So the living standard ,quality and happiness at Silicon Valley is lower than Toronto.
But are you saving significantly more? I'm about to do the same move. 105TC in Ontario to 281TC im the bay
Wife in TD status which cannot work and have 2 kids. Big cost for rental and kids. So saving much less compare to live in Toronto.

Top red flags in guy to see before saying yes to marriage (arranged)
Don't know about L5 but at the 3 YOE range I know a bunch of friends are stuck at 100k +/- 10k in the waterloo - toronto area TC 110. Move to the bay getting me 281
Is it too less for the area?
With 110 in the area I live like a king. Saving like 70% of my after tax
