I’m going to apply to Canada’s Express Entry program with the intention of moving to Canada. In the US, I’ve worked as a Contractor for various clients doing custom internal software development. I’ve worked on web applications (Non JS-heavy) Front Ends, Back End, Data-oriented applications using Hadoop ecosystem tech. 95% of my work is in Java dev, but I’m open to other languages and tech stacks. Any career advice to succeed in Canada, assuming my everything goes through. Any specific skills that are valuable?
How far along in the Express Entry process are you? Do you have a ranking score?
Don’t ask who the governor of the state is. They like to think of themselves as a separate country.
Are you targeting a specific city?
No. I haven’t even submitted the application yet. But maybe either Toronto are or Vancouver. Ideally I don’t want to live in a religious, conservative area.
This is Canada, they will not stuff religion down your throat. Also be aware that the average house is over $1m in those Canadian cities.
Anyone from the valley will have no trouble working as an engineer in Canada.
Not from the Valley
Make sure you make your money in US and then move to Canada. A Canadian job will not allow you the same velocity of savings as USA. Spend 10 years in USA and qualify for social security

Thanks. I tend to be a restrained a$$h01e
