    Is 140k a high or a medium salary in Canada? It’s 100k in the US which is entry level as per the US software market.

    Rule of thumb is (for Bay Area employee) get your USD TC and divide it by 2 and just convert it to CAD. You’ll get the average Canadian salary for that bracket.

    So let’s say entry level 100k usd/2 then multiplied by 1.4 (conversion)... it’s near 70k CAD. You have to consider that living in Canada is normally way cheaper in general.

    Here’s another example with a 500k usd TC/2*1.4... it’s about 350k cad. Not much people do that type of salary, like less than 1% of Canadian.

    If you want the exact, you can find online tools that does true exact math. I make around 230k cad in Montreal, Remote which is actually very very high. According to some research and tools online, that’s the equivalent of making around 600k in the Bay Area.
