Just dropping this here to aid the many other reasons to protest.
I can see why this is a thing at Amazon. Facebook and Google have generous leave policies that could be abused for 1+ years of work-free income if moving from one to the other at the right time.
Do you think you just get paid during that time? No. The stock vest schedule simply pauses. Amazon used to do this but they’re nervous about employees organizing and having substantial share in the company.
Yeah vesting (as well as health insurance) pauses if your leave exceeds 30 days. Please explain how I can receive a year of work free income 😛😁
Personal leave is not the same as sick leave I thought. Can they punish you for being on sick leave?

personal leave time is just that. so if you want to take an unpaid sabbatical for over 3 months you lose stock. if you are out for a year on sick or other leaves you also lose your stock. doesn't seem unreasonable to me
I think it’s to prevent the tenured / senior Amazonians from just leaving to explore options.

you don't cancel it because they were on leave. Paused vesting or lost vesting for the period would be even understandable action. If you resume, if your stock grant is proportional to the amount of time you worked for the year, even that is reasonable. Think of this - the unvested stock from a previous grant was because of what you did before and if that's taken away COMPLETELY, that's terrible.

What it’s saying is if you’re out on medical leave for more than 3 months. Which includes things like cancer and childbirth, your stock will be canceled. Amazon really covers its bases when it comes to treating employees like shit.
