With Capgemini for more than a month and still on bench. Should I start interviewing again? TC 200k. YOE 13.
Devops Architect/C2
You need to be having “coffees “ with engagement managers and partners every day and asking them for what you can do for PD or Sales decks etc
Are they not selling much ?
But yes start looking. You already missed your utilization goal for the year
Is there a termination risk
I don't think there is a termination risk. There are people who've been on the bench longer. I know for a fact that a new hire (around the same level as you) was on the bench for 3 months. I myself was on the bench for 2 after a project. What helped me get on a project was to offer help to anyone. There are a lot of pursuits going on that they need help with. If you help them out, they'll get to know you and your expertise and that will help you get on a project soon. I was remotely working the whole time I networked.
I work remotely and there are no managers in my city to get that in person conversation kicking in but can go to one of the Cap office somewhere else and I think that is what I should do. Have been getting lot of recruiter calls from outside though. Came in from a Product company and is new to Consulting.
I sensed that from your question. Do you have sales goals? Also you must have a manager or mentor. you must talk to them ASAP. You can Not sit and wait, they need to see you hustle within the firm...
Manager mentions that some roles are coming up and been waiting for that since a month. Have weekly calls but have not seen traction on any actual engagement yet
Get some certifications like AWS or Azure, etc. That'll make it easier for Cap to get you onto a project. Even if you're just studying & haven't taken the test yet.
This is normal timeline for consulting companies to get you onto an initial project especially during the last quarter of year .. everybody's focus is on getting their pending stuff done and going on vacation. I dont see a need to worry immediately unless you have been talking with clients/projects and they have been turning you down or it stays the same way for both Jan and Feb combined. Meanwhile you can prepare which can help you both ways .. on a new assignment and for interviews..
Capgemini pays so much?
If you are on H1b then you should be start looking asap
They had me on bench for 2 months and laid me off so just to be on the safe side I would say start looking again. Seems like the people managers don’t know how to do their jobs correctly
How come ? What role/title ?
