I know blind has an aversion towards C1 because of layoffs/office politics. Thats besides the point. I was contacted by a recruiter for a software engineer role in NYC. I am concerned with their interview process for a software engineer roles. The recruiter told me there is a hackerrank where you are able to clone a project into your local repo and submit on hackerrank after completing. This assessment is timed for 72 hours once starting but is stated it should not take more than 2 to 3. The time is for flexibility. After the assessment, its a call with an engineer to discuss interest in technology. After the call is a superday consisting of two job-fit interviews, a case study, and behavioral. Can someone go in more detail about the case study and job-fit? This is not a TDP role. The role is for an experienced software engineer with 3 YOE. I want to know if the questions asked are very different than the TDP in order to prepare since there are a lot of resources on how to prepare for the TDP. Im more accustomed towards data structures and algorithms interviews. How are the job-fit interviews? Are they super specific on language intricacies and framework based questions? How is the case study ( is it any different from a TDP case study)? Not concerned with behavioral.
Experienced?
I said experienced because it isnt a TDP role
My cases had nothing to do with code and the service interviewer presented it like one of those Goosebumps choose your own story line books. There was virtually no code and it was def just to see how you could problem solve and to assess your use of context clues, curiosity and your intuition. When there was code it was more along the lines of look at this example what do you think it does, would it work, etc. and it was all with intentionally vague background info.
Which office did u interview for? And was it recently?
Case interviews are a problem solving exercise, so you have a problem and you have to ask questions to get requirements, define scope and whiteboard code to solve the problem. Job fit interview is more about reviewing your past experience and determining your knowledge on languages, frameworks, software design etc for 3 YOE they are probably not going to be nit picky with super specific questions. Does that help? As far as C1 as an employer your experience is going to be impacted greatly by what team you’re on and your manager. Because of the politics it will be much easier to be successful if you have a good, supportive manager who can help you navigate the performance/talent management here. If you have any contacts at C1 in NYC I’d try to find out about the teams they tell you they are considering placing you on before you accept. Things like WLB and team culture vary a lot from team to team. Good luck!
Thank you for taking the time to explain, this helps a lot.
