I have a TDP offer of 99k for McLean/DC. I was told that performance bonus could be up to 6k with another 4k if I exceed expectations. I asked my recruiter about negotiating and they said it's non negotiable. I currently make 65 so moving to DC I'd make basically the same after COL differences. How can I negotiate or am I just screwed. Also in the process with Amazon so I am going to go with them if I make it to onsites and they offer. Also I might add that I value learning and growth potential more than TC right now but I don't think I could negotiate a better team at cap1 either?
Tech Dev Program. It's just their out of college new hire initiative stuff
Amazon is anyways better then Capitalone.. however I must say I enjoyed working @ CapitalOne as a developer
Thanks for the input. What did your team do?
Java... micro services and all same stuff
Take a close look and compare benefits. I don’t know about Amazon but you need to look at the guaranteed vs potential. You “could” earn $x in bonus but one snarky mgr and the god awful ranking system and it’s no raise for you.
Tbh 100k for fresh grad is more than I expected Capital One to pay
Yap... I think same ....
So no way to negotiate?
Cap One TDP offers are non-negotiable. On the plus side, 100K is above the norm for the area and way more than what they used to give 2-3 years back. Your joining bonus might easily be 10K and performance might add another 6-7K for the base Associate level brining the first year to around 115-120K.Not bad. NoVA is weird cause you can get an apartment that is expensive if you're near DC or you can go a little out and get something cheaper compared to other west coast areas. People club DC and many parts of Virginia as the same COL but honestly, they are vastly different if you ask me. Traffic can be a bitch though. Still don't think it is as expensive as western states if you find the correct spots so 100K is very decent money. As far as CapOne is concerned, TDPs get good exposure and you'll get 2 teams in 2 years. Work culture is fairly chill. What you learn varies dramatically depending on your team. Sometimes you end up with crappy horizontal tool maintenance or other times you end up in a position where you get to own and create new apps/core features. I feel there is good talent in patches and the company has a good focus on CICD and tech streamlining in some LOBs. Not a bad place to start off honestly. Performance management is like most other companies. Isn't highly rated but hardly know a company where people like the performance management. Amazon would be a better alternative imo but all depends on the team you land into. Regardless both Amzn and CapOne will be there down the road so either choice isn't bad.
Do they sponsor H1B for new grad. location - SF
