Thinking of returning to the darkside. What's the typical contracting rate for a senior developer at Capital One? VA locations more specifically. Getting told $70/hr "is the absolute limit" which is weird considering that's like 10% over a salaried position at best.
Even at $80/hr still seems better just to shoot for one of the many open Master Software Engineer positions but dealing with their internal recruiters is a huge PITA.
at least then you get benefits and pto
I personally wouldn’t do it. Have had to get rid of several contractors in past few months, and will lose all of the rest of mine by the end of the year. Performance of the contractors is not the issue.... concerted effort to drive down non associate labor.
In favor of more costly associate labor in the long run?
The contractors are considerably more expensive even after adding in cost of benefits and bonus to associate base salary
Third recruiter in a row to tell me $70/hr is absolute max for a Senior Developer even for McLean, didn't even throw out a number this time. The real kicker is the requirements were definitely pulled from the Master level posting on the C1 site. Are people really jumping on these contracts with inflated requirements, getting paid less to be worked more with no PTO and benefits as the only "bonus". Lol poor chaps. HQ2 or bust it is then because I'm not dealing with the C1 internal recruiters again unless my life depends on it.
Is it $70 per hour in Virginia for how many YOE ?
8 yoe and yes VA, I know McLean is about a 10% bump over Richmond for most things but have 0 clue on any contractor rates.
I would shoot for at least $80 per hour with 8 YOE in VA. Is it a long term contract or what duration ?
