Car rental deals for a long trip

I’m moving from the east coast to Seattle and I want to drive to explore. I was looking at renting a car and dropping it off in Seattle but the prices seems way too high. ~$1800 (4days) for a pick up or a premium SUV. Google is’t helping with all the ads. I could’t find a better deal. Anyone knows the cheapest way to rent a car for that kind of trip? Promo codes .. etc.

    • Then step down your class of car a level. That sounds way too high. Also for “exploring”, I’d give longer than 4 days

I need a big car to move my stuff too. The trip will take less than 2 days without stops. I’m going to be driving with a friend so the driving won’t be just on me. 4-5 day seems reasonable to me as I don’t have much time between jobs.

One way rental with unlimited miles??? If so, expect hefty drop off fees. Anyway, try Costco, and dont pickup or drop off at airports

Yes! The daily charge was like $70 which sweet! But the drop-off fee is something around $1k!

I have done NY to CA, 5 days 10hours a day. So much fun. As far as renting it try to go on craigslist rideshare and see if anyone wants to ship their car from east to west, they will actually pay you to drive their car. Win win situation.

It’s 37 hours .. driving for 9-10 hours a day seems reasonable. And I might extend it to 5 days depends

This is with Costco next week. Standard SUV is $735. My guess is that no one wants to rent you a premium SUV for a reasonable price.

Costco prices seems much cheaper. I don’t have a membership but that’s alright I can get one. I was hoping nothing more than $600. I’ll keep looking

Costco. But honestly one-way rentals are not good value for money for most vacations.

I think a large part of it would be the intercity fee, which is hard to escape. Try carrental8 com , I've usually found it to be cheaper compared to other providers
