i am currently working in HW Operations/Supply Chain. I work with vendors and OEMs for New Product Introductions. The work is exciting as I get to work on new products. The top management is really involved and I frequently get to attend/present in meetings with SVP/COO. However, WLB is bad, late evening/night calls with Asian vendors, constant pressure, not a lot of growth opportunities, TC is ok, IC need to really work out of their skin and sacrifice WLB to get good stock refreshers. So I started interviewing and got offers from Google and FB for their Infrastructure teams. Work seems ok, TC is a 20% bump and generally seem to have a better WLB. However I feel that Infrastucture teams like a support team with not a lot of visibility to management. Also I see these teams may get impacted by lay-offs in case things start to go bad. From a career learning point, I am not sure what my next move could be after working in Infrastructure vs in my current role I can go to any HW company developing Consumer/Industrial HW. i have seens a lot of Apple folks from to Google/FB infra teams. Blind folks what do you think ?? Current TC : 210k
How many yoe?
Hi, are you referring to Cloud Infrastructure team? WLB is good. SVP visibility is super rare unless you are hired at a very high level. I am guessing you are being hired at around L5 which is avg for Apple veteran. Chances of getting laid off is super low if it is the cloud infra team. Good luck!!
