I got both offers. Amazon principal product and google sr program. Amazon is in eCommerce and google is in mobile messaging tech jive. Which one is better from Career, growth, perspective. I’ve heard advised that eCommerce will be hot in India for a few more years to come and will pay more and the problems to solve are different. Mobile tech at google is no special and there are many people in that field. What are your thoughts and Advice for me?
I don't know about Google, but Principal Product Manager at Amazon is a solid role. It comes with a lot of power and a wide area of impact. Also, as you said, e commerce is hot in India, especially in Amazon who is investing heavily.
Amazon - there’s never a dull day. But that comes with its trade offs. Be ready to work long hours and say bye bye to work life balance. I agree role wise, principal product manager is probably a better role than a senior program manager (atleast at Amazon).
Principal product manager is an awesome role. Congrats. You would have a lot of impact. Amazon in India is expanding.
Tech will drag you down at Amazon India. As a product manager you'd want your ideas in production faster than you think. That's not gonna happen in the Amazon India retail business org. Code changes are slow and it's gonna lead to a lot of frustration when you see all other competitors launch similar features much ahead of Amazon. Don't just blindly look at the seniority of the role offered at Amazon. There's a lot of bloat in the eCommerce org. I'd say take that google offer and run.
If u want to screw peace in life, join Amazon, else come to join Google
Obviously google
What's the pay like?
Pay is probably the same at both
Still at offer stage
