Hello reader -
Would love to get the take of others who have gone from IC to mgr early in their career.
Background:
- 3.5 yrs in PM (<6 yrs total)
- ex consultant, soft skill/ strategy heavy
- tc 340
- currently early into managing large team of PMs
my take so far: enjoy the team lead stuff, area strategy, etc - but execution on roadmap is so slow at a big company like WD (dependencies, resource constraints, etc).
So far finding minimal luck at other brand names, maybe due to lack of technical skills, MBA or large product launches.
Thinking about shifting to IC at small-mid startup to build additional product experience.
Any thoughts? Should I ride out a bit longer to level up more? Anyone else jumped from large company to startup and felt it was worth the jump experience wise?
Thanks!
