I'm joining fb soon at e5 and will be going through bootcamp. I'm wondering what some good product teams are that are hiring, and also offer clear paths to advance to e6 and beyond (also, planning to switch to manager track in a year or two). I'm mostly interested in mobile full stack work and have quite a few solid launches under my belt. Thanks!
make sure you can fit into fb's culture first
I'm definitely awrae of the differences from where I came from, but would love to hear something specific.
it is completely different. you may be aware some similar places.
Googlers suck at iterating and are obsessed with code for no product benefit.
don’t be that guy, learn the fb way and e6 will come
Thanks I get what you are saying. Ready to unlearn what I learnt at Google and embrace the fb way
Every team is going to sell you on their way as the beat way to E6, they’ll grow you, tell you how you’ll be given great feedback on what areas to grow, etc. Don’t believe it all. Best way to E6 is find a fast growing group with great product and good manager with low eng count, get in early, own many things with super impact esp. if your idea, mentor/train new hires, and brag as much as possible before PSC. Ez pz.
What counts as low eng count?
This is so impressive!
Why leave google? Try to make L6 at G if you were already a top L5 performer. Much better WLB
Trying to get a different perspective. Also, Google tend to move much slower, and would throw money at you to keep you content where you are, which doesn't really align with my philosophy
