Career stagnation and burnout

Hi blinders, let me whine a bit. As a new grad I joined biggest IT corp in my country. I had a lot of energy to learn and climb the ladder. At the age of 25 I was a Lead Developer and had my own project. I thought my career would continue as great as it started. Political situation in my country got out of control and I seeked ways to escape. Pretty quickly I landed a Software Engineer position in EU company and moved. That was first downgrade for me. In my home country I was among 0.5% earners, but accepted pretty average offer just to get to EU. In 2 years I got Senior Developer and at the age of 28 I was at the same point in my career I was at 25. As a last move I joined MS chasing TC and prestige. Now I’m SDE ll. I feel stuck in my career and have zero motivation to do stuff. My manager says I’m lacking communication skills to get promoted. I feel like I reached my ceiling and this frustrates me. I lack confidence and constantly question my own words. I feel like I don’t know anything, my LC is in a horrible state. I’m afraid of third party assessment of my skills and don’t understand how to advance my career and unstuck myself. Tell me about your successful careers so that I can cry over your comments. TC: 150k eur

MS is the most valued company in the world and offers great TCs in EU. I heard in US TC is lower than in other tech companies but here it’s not.

Are you in MS Denmark?

I’d prefer not to specify country for anonymity.

How old are you now? 150K Euros is not a small sum. It's a pretty good salary in EU, I'd think. So, at least salary-wise, you may not be doing as bad as you think.

I’m 30. Yes TC has improved a lot. What bothers me is that it won’t grow any further because I’m not going to be promoted and every job switch throws me back to the start line.

You have a very good salary for your age. I think you should be happy about that. Regarding growth, I think you are realizing that "What got you here won't get you there". A combination of positive motivation and up-skilling is needed there. Are there any tech/ specific tech topics' related meetups you could join to connect with industry folks outside work, and keep yourself motivated?

Dude. It is called a peak. You had all burners on and peaked early. Now you must come to terms that you are going to have to fly at a lower altitude
