Goal is data analytics (ideally in manufacturing/marketing), but my background in mfg has me a little pigeonholed. Anybody successfully make the transition?

Whatโ€™s F100? You can switch to a software job if you have programming experience in manufacturing

Interned for several Fortune 100 (F100) companies, currently working at one.

Job description does not include programming, but I've done a fair amount of it at work (side projects) or personal projects - (Python, SQL, VBA, etc). Also did LabVIEW, MATLAB, and PLC programming in undergrad.

Have had not had any response to resumes I've submitted, seems like most companies prefer folks with CS backgrounds or direct WE instead of tangentially related work, which is understandable. Got a few minor certifications in data analytics/SQL recently but it hasn't seemed to help. Any advice for demonstrating my capabilities from roles that seem unrelated?

I have a few friends moved to software jobs. You can emphasize your programming experience (Python, SQL, and side projects) on your resume and remove manufacturing specific words. Study general software interviewโ€” Algorithm and database on Leetcode. Practice mock interviews on Pramp. As long as you excel on the interview, you can get an offer from big tech companies. Otherwise, gain some experience at a software startup even they pay a little
