Career switch from full stack to data governance/meta data management.

I’m a SE with 4 yoe as a full stack developer. Got an offer for a data engineer role involving data governance and metadata management. Would that be a good career switch? What would be a future career progression from here. Got the opportunity at a financial services company. Any thoughts or inputs are hugely appreciated. Full stack - Angular, Java (spring boot framework), micro services and the whole shebang. Data governance - they are going to be using Microsoft azure platform. Is that a good career switch? #engineering #software #swe #dataengineer #datagovernance

Do you enjoy preparing data more than writing web applications?

Sort of tired of writing web apps. After a while, I feel like I hit a rut. The product has matured and there’s nothing interesting going on. Wanted to move to a data engineer role so I thought this is a good opportunity. But wanted to know if it’s a wise career move?

How is data governance and compliance less of a rut then writing web apps....

It depends on your YOE and TC. DEs in some places makes a lot less mid career compared to SDEs. Perhaps you can negotiate to join as Backend SDE? If you think TC is fair or you are level 6+ then go for it.
