Strange Opentext recruiting behavior

I received an message from an Opentext recruiter about an opportunity. First, they wanted to confirm I lived in a metro where they have an office. Once that was confirmed, they replied that I’ll hear back once the HM is ready to begin interviews. That was about a month ago.

I have a final on site scheduled with another company, so asked to schedule a call with the Opentext recruiter this week. The reply was that I cannot speed up the interview process.

It’s a bit suspect to reach out to candidates and post openings when the HM isn’t ready to proceed. It’s even more suspect that after a month they still are not ready and won’t be anytime soon. Many red flags. Avoid this place.

  • Sounds like they're waiting for hiring budget to be approved. It's ethical to delay interviews in this case

      Interesting. I’ve always experienced an approval is necessary before spending the time and money on starting the recruiting process.

      If that’s the case, I agree with you. But the process is suboptimal if you’re starting without being able to make any progress speaking with interested people.

  • This is not new. Happens all the time which is absurd. Same thing happened with me for twitter and adobe recruiter 😩

      I've been trying to schedule a call with a hm for over a week now with a Twitter recruiter. It doesn't help that it takes them 4-6 days to respond to my emails.

    • I waited a month, follow up every week once because she ask for my availability in every email that she will schedule interview now and I stopped sending email and ghosted. Another twitter recruiter ghost after interview for another role saying Hm is checking logistics for this role after taking interviews. So total shit show from twitter per my experience
