mgr already told me i’m getting promo this quarter. meeting today to hear new comp and RSUs. in these cases i think rule of thumb is you should always ask for more, but not sure how it works at amazon. should i ask for more? gonna also double check glassdoor and the other sites for baseline. thx all

Lol. No, promo raise is non negotiable. You’ll need to get a dive and save to get an off cycle raise.

Ah ok that makes sense. Honestly though at that point, I would for sure leave Amazon for a better offer though...

Not a manager, but from what I hear, your comp will be at the lower part of the next pay band. If you want to ever negotiate pay, if you transfer to a position in another city with a new contract, then leverage a competing offer, you will be able to renew your contract at a higher TC.

I used to work there...but there's a fixed amount they already have in mind which may be lower than what they offer to a new hire going into ur next role

You can still ask for more, they may throw u a few more bucks or RSUs

But I would also consider accepting the promotion just to have on ur resume.

Meanwhile, do an experiment and start applying to other companies and list ur newly promoted position on resume

And be sure to inject, u were recently promoted but...insert whatever u can pull out of ur as
