What do you guys think of American Tower (AMT) and Crown Castle International (CCI) in light of 5G push in U.S, Europe, China and 4G, 3G adoption in many lesser developed countries? Both are REIT companies which manage and lease cell towers. REITs are generally more stable stocks since they lease towers and do not directly build or develop technologies and since the lease are long term, their clients are in for the long haul despite how the market moves (However stock can still be affected if clients default or new clients stop leasing) From my basic understanding: AMTās advantage: - Bigger global presence especially in India and Africa where 3G and 4G are still growing rapidly leading to more towers being leased/built. CCI advantage: - Although limited to US, it specializes in small towers which are what will be used for 5G, which has shorter range and requires many more of these small towers spread a few hundred feet apart vs a single tower servicing miles of radius. Disadvantage of both: Both stocks already went up over the past year and might be overvalued at this point. Any other investors would like to lend their thoughts here?#stock #investing #market
What do you think about the frequency bands? So far no one is talking about the differences & "5G" is being pushed too fast.
Plow it into Albertsons. You'll thank me later! š

Following - also curious if people value carrier stocks like AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc. for the future of 5G.
On paper they might seem like great stocks but remember these guys are not agile companies like modern tech companies and move slow with a lot of bloat and legacy. Imagine the overhaul and strategy change they need to implement to take advantage of 5G. And what happens to: - Their legacy infrastructure: They still have tower leases, cables etc which they need to revamp or get rid off - Their existing subscriptions: People might move away from their WiFi business and 3/4G cellular services Too much risk and overhaul needed for these companies. I am sure they would be more content sitting on their current empires instead of being thrown in the 5G frenzy. Had I to pick one, AT&T just seems like the better of the 3 just going by their dividends payment, Zacks rating, the investment elites backing them. But again would stay clear personally. My $0.02
Yep, all good to think about. Working at Twilio of course, I have a direct, painful understanding of how slow carriers can operate and how archaic their processes can be. So thatās a good point when thinking about 5G.
