Been working at Apple for 4 years. Just got hiring committee approval from Google. The recruiter says I got really positive feedback from the committee. About to go into the team matching phase. I’m ICT4 at Apple with a good chance of ICT5 next year. What are the chances Google will match my unvested RSUs? ~500k
Should be fine if you get T5
I’ve always wondered this as well. If companies are not willing to match unvested stock, what is the employee’s incentive to leave? (Other than a salary bump)
On a side note, how much have to accumulated in last four years. I am on the same boat with unvested around 400 for 3 years
Unvested RSUs are a useless metric. Compare only the TC
Unvested RSUs matter a lot as they will determine how much actual stock you vest each cliff. At least for the first couple years. If You only consider total comp, you start at square one in building up your total unvested value.
As long as you stay one year, it really doesn't matter
T6 is ICT 5. That number seems low. I was getting more than 100K as ICT 3.
What is ICT. We have L5, L6
ICT5 is a large band. It covers T6 and T7 at Google. We have until ICT6. ICT4 is our terminal level. Apple starts at ICT2.
Use levels.fyi to map between Apple and Google
They can easily match $500k at L4.
Based on what I’ve read here it seems an ICT4 at Apple would be offered an L5 at Google. Is that accurate?
Not sure about the level mapping--it might be L5, I have no idea about that--but I know of L4 offers that have well-exceeded the $500k number for RSUs. Google seems to be very willing to throw stock at you while being very stingy with the levels.
It's a reasonable request. I know Google employees who got matched 1M in unvested equity.

This is incorrect.
I was second guessing myself, I am sorry, I threw your poop for a loop
