I'm a software engineer in the domain of information security, with 3 YOE, living in Europe, and considered pretty strong in my country. I'm also eligible for the H1B1 visa (like H1B but no wait or lottery, just need sponsorship), due to Chilean citizenship. Is it realistic that I can make it to the interviews, without my CV being trashed due to the required visa sponsorship? If not, tips on how to improve my chances would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I do think so, for G at least. You'll be considered as member of an under-represented demographic, which will be a plus. Can't speak for the others companies.
Oh are you sure about that? My recruiter told me that I need to be outside the US for a year to relocate to the US
Last time I checked, recruiters had local targets so an EMEA recruiter had no incentive for you to go to the US. Maybe ask if you could please talk with a US recruiter, by email. They can say no, but if they do you'd have some interesting question for their manager after you're hired.
Amazon is hiring lots of Chileans. They discovered the magic of h1b1
Just hack into any of them and show them who is boss
have you talked to any recruiter about this yet? can I PM you? Thanks!
If you are as strong as you say you are, don't just look for FAANG, try any company that can hire and get you here. Once you here, it's easy to move around.
