Hi all, I'm currently working at Google and have recently received some job offers from good companies which almost increases my pay 50%. Unfortunately I work in L1B visa which does not allow my to change companies. I didn't get picked in H1B lottery for last 3 times. My wife is currently working on H1B visa, so I'm thinking of the following options 1) Initiate H4 + EAD now. There is a huge risk of employment gap if there is a delay in EAD 2) Wait for H1B lottery next year (or may be next few rounds this year) and apply through consultancies to increase odds :( Didn't think it will come to this :( 3) Go to Canada, work for a year as manager, come back on L1A and take the green card route. Will waste 2 years but thinking about long term gain. Let me know your thoughts. TC: 450k YOE: 8yrs
Why can't you take the greencard route on L1B?
Won't they do it as L1B is only valid for 5 years?
Depends if you want to settle quickly in US, option 3 is safest. Option 2 has more risk as both of you will go out of status if your wife’s extension is denied due to some reason. The risk is higher than the gain.
check with an immigration attorney and discuss what you learn as part of this discussion
You are from India? USA Internal transfer is easy in Google?
TC of 450K seems high for internal transfer , have you been here for a while ? . Do tell what option you took.
