Moved to Bay area and have been looking for new career opportunity for last 1 year . I have PhD in Chem Eng with 4 years working experience in Filtration Manufacturing Company in East Coast. However, I am finding it difficult to get enough response from the companies I have applied for the roles in Bay Area. I am willing to leverage my other skills rather than filtration to move in other areas of Chemical engg/Material Science related roles but no luck yet. Anyone here can share their experience or guide me how to get interview calls and finally land a job if you have gone through similar situation. TIA
There’s a company called OSI soft in Philly but their consultants travel most days. So I guess you could negotiate location. Pays super high TC to chemEs and WLB is chill. I only know bc I have multiple friends there who do nothing all day but banter online lol
Thanks for the interesting info.
Did they have to learn software engineering?
You can try and find a tech role that uses your analytical skills if you're okay with that. Was a chemical engineer myself, and am now a software engineer. No boot camp, no regrets. Grass is greener!
I am kinda thinking to switch as well but need to work on that from scratch . How long did it take for you to move into SE?
About a year in total.
bay area sucks for ChemEs. Come to New Orleans or Houston
I wish I could relocate at this moment
