Is it worth moving from Chicago to Bellevue? If I am making $50000 in Chicago, how much should I make Bellevue to maintain the same lifestyle? I live in downtown Chicago.
Housing will be the biggest hurdle even if you double your income
Worth it just for the winter
Do you have a job lined up? If not, then no.
What's your field? Couldn't be software engineering.
Living in Bellevue now. I have a roommate and we managed to get a great apartment for 2100. Iâm not in the heart of Bellevue, but further towards crossroads. Most places in downtown Bellevue are at least 1.5k for a studio if I remember correctly. Eating out means spending at least $12/meal. A night out is $30 easily, usually 50. Youâll definitely feel poor in Bellevue with that salary if you hang out with young people. To maintain the same lifestyle, Iâd guess youâd want to be making 80-90k
How do you afford living in Chicago downtown? rent controlled apartment?
Come on, people. I know a few who makes around 65 and leads a perfect life in Chicago suburbs. BTW, OP: It is harder than you think. A family member moved from Naperville to Seattle. He had to use all the money he had from sold off home as down payment for another home. Other than enjoying his hikes, he worries about mortgage again đ
You will have to live 30 min away.

WTF are you doing to only make $50k in Chicago? Also, maintain the same lifestyle? Do you even have a lifestyle?
Agree. How do you even? You could move to Dallas, get a job with AA (or most Companies here) we pay higher than 50K, free flights, then move to Bellevue. I like Bellevue but it is not cheap.
