I’m considering moving. Which city is better?
SF if you are young. Make some loot and move to the midwest when you're ready to settle down or get tired of the west coast scene
You gotta give us the metrics you care about~
I live in the Bay Area now, but will move back to Chicago in the next few years. I think Chicago is a better city than SF, but the Bay area is a trillion times better than Chicagoland. Chicago has better food, public transportation, museums, and architecture, but the weather is terrible all year round. I also feel safe walking around downtown Chicago, unlike certain parts of Market Street. SF is still great though. SF is ridiculously beautiful. The weather is perfect all year round. There are still tons of great restaurants. Public transportation is a little lacking, it is really dirty, and of course housing is ridiculous. The Bay Area, however, is unparalleled in terms of access to natural beauty in my opinion. The Pacific, Redwoods, Sequoia trees, Yosemite, Tahoe, Big Sur...the list goes on. So I love both areas, but I want to buy a house someday, and Chicago is much more affordable.
An ocean, a lake and a bunch of trees and rocks. Yep. Can't do shit with that. Very boring.
I don't know what you're trying to say. If you're being sarcastic...ok? If you're not being sarcastic, lots of people find a lot of joy in those things...so I think it's worth mentioning.
SF if you prefer to get stabbed. Chicago if you prefer to get shot.
Stubbed? How is that a problem?
Kinda like comparing apples and oranges. What are you looking for? Name 3 priorities
Seattle of course
I think it really depends on how well you tolerate hot muggy weather. Chicago is really cold and grey 5 months out of the year, when summer comes around it becomes an amazing place but only if you like 80/85 F and humid, otherwise you are miserable year round. The food is good, the people are nice, the arts and nightlife are good. The cost of living is significantly better than SF, especially if you work for a company that has offices on the west coast (equates to higher pay) or you work in finance.
SF if you’re an Asian and don’t want to be the only one within 10 miles.
If you are kind of a person who likes risks and growth opportunities, Bay area is the place for you. If all you look for is less COL, taxes, more take home pay etc in the short term then Chicago.
"If all you look for..." LOL
if you are a dork with career obsession, SF is the place. If you want to actually have a fun life without full of tech morons, Chicago.
