Currently in the offer stages with Dropbox and Google. No numbers yet, assuming they will come pretty close. I like the team and project at DBX more, it aligns with my career plan, but not sure about it’s future. I’m also concerned if my intuition is too subjective, since I’m interested in data/ML/AI and GCP seems to be at a better position in these fields than DBX. Google is google, but the team is GCP and not relevant to my previous experience. Heard some negative reviews for GCP (messy/chaotic, high pressure, bad wlb, culture more like AWS). Also heard there are not many interesting teams at Seattle site. Should I choose google just for the brand and career safety (waiting for my green card now) or follow my heart and choose DBX? YOE: 6
I have my doubts over long term vision of DBX, what they are selling in a commodity.
Order of importance: team > org > company.
Cannot u just change team in the future
I think this depends on where you are in your career and where you want to go later. Do you want to hit a certain level then focus on things outside of work? Do you want to try your shot at a standup? Do you want to move up the ladder? Do you want to specialize in a certain area? More exploration in different areas? What do you want from the next job (besides $) with respect to your career is what I am asking.
Working on more interesting projects in a certain area, learning a lot, getting to senior level as well as wlb are important to me
GCP is definitely messy , political and chaotic - but you get google brand
I can get in google with MS brand already so not sure how important it is ;)
The votes are now 50:50, as torn as I am.
Dropbox is a quite prestigious brand as well. Pretty high hiring bar and happy employees AFAIK with great perks.
For sure, the only concerns for me are: 1. Not many project options to work on; 2. Stock price decreases over years; 3. Risk of lay-off in case of a recession
Then I really do not understand why you are in a dilemma. You sound like you dont want to work at Dropbox. You can not get everything you want. Plus don’t get the illusion that google is the ultimate place to work, it all is team dependent.
Hey I am joining dbx in weeks:)

I mean, your post in itself already shows you clearly like dropbox more.
I know, but it’s a life decision that I don’t want to decide emotionally
