2 offers- paypal and startup. Paypal says they will file h1b this april, startup says they will do it next april. Currently on 1 year opt, opt extension for 2 years aftr that. I really want to begin my career in a startup.but worried about the h1b scene. Please advice if its too risky to go to a startup instaed of paypal
Bring it up with the startup in case you haven’t. There are two major risks: first the chances you’re not selected in one round is high, second with the trump administration you don’t know what’s gonna happen until next year.
I think go with PayPal. In this climate you want as many chances with H1B lottery as you can. Once you get H1B go to startup. Startup also has troubles getting H1B because they have less experience with immigration in general.
Go with PayPal. You can always transfer to another company after that. Betting on a startup to secure your immigration status is a risky one.
Paypal
PayPal. I've seen some of my STEM friends not being picked in a lottery consecutively twice. This April is their last chance
Go with PayPal, and make sure they file in premium. Once H1B is approved you can switch later.
PayPal. I know someone who didn't get picked in three consecutive lotteries.
+1
Getting your immigration fixed is the single most important thing. Go with PayPal. Its never easy with the lottery. You need all the chances and all the luck you can get. Once you get your H1, you have more latitude to explore.
PayPal- no brainer. Once you have your h1b and i140 filed and approved you can have it transferred to a different company.

I don’t know if “too” risky is the right term, but definitely “more” risky.
