I have an offer from Cisco for an SWE role( Grade 8). Offer : Base : 170k Sign on : 17k Bonus :12% RSU : 70k (Over 4 yrs) My current base is 170k in New jersey. I dont know if the above offer is good enough considering the role is based out of San Jose. Should I negotiate the RSU's and base salary?
Come to Twilio instead
I am surprised G8 base can go to 170k!! Even for G10 , it is at top. If you get the top range, you have no room to grow
I think they were trying to match my current base. What do you think about RSU's ? Any scope of them bumping the RSU's?
I heard that the work culture and scope for career growth is good, am i wrong?
Your base is high for a 8! The total comp looks quite decent. FWIW if you are good (tech and a team player) you will do ok.
It's a kick ass offer for a G8 in new Jersey! Congratulations!!
The offered role is based out of San Jose.
Base is pretty good. They have given you new grad signon. Negotiate on it
Also consider your chances of getting laid off in Cisco's frequent layoffs.
Wtf... g8 base 170?? I am g8 135
That's a very high base for G8. Try and negotiate a higher grade and maybe get your base to $190k. Also RSU's should be 120k over 4 years.
RSUs are per year, or vesting over 4 years? If they are vesting over 4 years, you are taking a pay cut by joining Cisco, considering the cost of living. Personally, I like to negotiate on TC letting the company decide how they want to structure it
Well the recruiter says that 170k base is the max they can do for a grade 8 engineer. looks like the RSU's is the only place i can negotiate.
Try to get more RSUs, or better yet, check if they can get you in grade 10!
