I have an offer from Cisco wanted to check the difference between Grade 10 vs Grade 11 .

Initially they verbal offered me Grade 11 but seems like one of the interviewers seemed to believe i need to be groomed more for a Grade 11 position but TC wise i am convinced.
Should i push for Grade 11 or just take Grade 10 .
Is there significant difference between these grades ? I was previously Intel Grade 7 , how does it compare to cisco levels.fyi is confusing me more regards to this grading.

Current TC -175 K
Cisco offer - 171 k base , 15% bonus , 80 k / 4 years 10 % sign so New TC -217 k

Which BU is this and what’s your yoe? I personally recommend everyone to go far away from Cisco.

Also there is less ownership and managers sit on your head and try to control every little task. Project requirements change often and I have worked on multiple technologies in 4.5 years at Cisco. In the beginning it was nice because I got to experience different stuff and understand what I really like working on. However, as you grow older, you would want domain knowledge and expertise so that you can join tier 1 companies as Domain expert and not get down leveled. These opinions are mine and what my friends at Cisco have experienced. You might experience something else completely

It's always better to push for a higher level compensation wise if you could make a case (proof that you are a valuable asset)
Base range is better for 11 grade and refreshers a bigger.
It's hard to get promoted to 11 grade from my and my colleagues experience.
With that being said I'm level grade now and my base is by 15K more than you posted + 30k more RSU for 4 years.
Your haven't posted your YOE mine is 10+

On the other hand with higher level your manager has more room for a raise without pushing you to promotion

Work life balance is a priority for me , Hence I am gravitated towards Cisco . Off-course first priority was Google but i got rejected by hiring committee for a L5 role 6 months back.

I’m in a loop with Cisco, my understanding is Gr10 is Senior, Gr11 is “Lead” equivalent to Staff at most places, Gr12 is “Lead 2” equivalent to Sr. Staff at most places, and Gr13 is Principal.

This is helpful. I believe i should push for Grade 11 then is almost Intel Grade 9 , just thinking now how to go about the negotiation i have another offer with IBM but its so ridiculous without any RSUs that no way i am gonna join them so should i use it to negotiate and tell i have another offer or find another tactic to negotiate.

G10 is Senior, G11 is Manager/Technical Leader, G12 is Sr Manager/Sr Technical Leader. G13 is Director, 089 is PE. 089 and G13 are the same comp. G10 and G11 have the same bonus. G12 bonus is higher and you tend to get more RSUs. So you’d want to come in G11 and work towards G12. Provided you’d be able to lead efforts more than or in addition to in the weeds.

With 9 YOE, grade 10 is more aligned. However if your interview went really well you can negotiate. Also G11 is more about leading efforts.

I know people with Grade 10 with Masters plus 5 yoe. One boomeranged and another stayed for 4-5 years.

Only positive I see is WLB, that's also depending on the team. Good place to retire after reaching a hefty TC

      1. Low paid
      2. No guarantee of refreshers/RSUs
      3. It's for boomers
