Thinking of transitioning to a similar non-technical role in PANW. I haven't come across with much information about PANW though. Heard the comp is competitive but benefits (incl. 401k) are mediocre. Do you think the transition is better for future career growth? Anyone has any thoughts?

Best LCOL or MCOL city?
Palo Alto is doing really good in security! Specially cloud security! Also, they are coming up with sdwan
I would remain in Cisco over PANW any day. If this was 5 years back, maybe the decision would have been exactly the opposite. But currently I believe Cisco is much more well-positioned for a long term success. Last 5 years this company has improved a HUGE lot in terms of work culture, product offerings, strategy and technical advancement. OTOH I did not see a great many things coming out of PANW in an year+ now, including the SDWAN effort which seems to be going nowhere, with the SDWAN technology itself is being challenged by newer intent-based simpler solutions like Segment Routing. Besides all these, it really boils down why YOU are looking for a change. If you want to work on latest security technologies in networking, IMHO you should try looking internally within Cisco itself.
No option to take up Cisco! Only a few groups in Cisco had pretty good work culture that changed since last year. Now there are layoffs in every group (except AppDynamics, Meraki which are all acquisitions), Brand value is so demolished everywhere that the MORE cisco experience you've in resume, regardless of your skillset and hardwork, your reputation is degrading in industry. Mostly because of large population in Cisco still has just surviving skills not tech skills
PANW on the resume is definitely much better I'd say. Comp is okay but there is almost no 401K match. I think the match is like 1000 dollars or something. But they have unlimited PTO.
PANW used to be a good company, but no longer. I've been here 6 years and have seen it tragically decline (internal culture) since Mark McLaughlin left. Google rejects took over the company and now it's a mass exit for the doors. RSU gifting is less and less, bonuses are less and less and pay raises have declined as well. Most veterans have left and whatever is left are looking to leave ASAP. Beware.......the culture is now toxic.
thanks for sharing the info. It's interesting how comments on culture differ dramatically. I've seen some comments from PANW saying that the company is growing and all good. Hmm these contradicting comments are something to consider.
Wow good to know. Glad I didn't join. I got a good offer from Cortex. I thought it was an interesting opportunity.
Anything is better than Cisco. PANW stock has been on a roll lately I believe
