Citadel Negotation

Got a new grad offer from Citadel: 150/50/50. A tech company matched Citadel’s TC so Citadel increased the signing bonus by 25K. Ive seen new grad offers at 400K TC (they have competing firm offers though and i dont), so I was thinking of asking for an additional 25K more in bonus and I will sign. Is this a bad idea? Edit: I dont think i was clear when i was saying that Citadel has already increased the TC, so I edited it to be more clear.

This would be fine as long as you don’t lie, because they may ask you to provide proof of a competing offer if you tell them you have one

Sorry my original post wasn’t clear. Citadel has already increased by 25K since the other company matched. I’m thinking of saying I will sign if they increase by an additional 25K.

Yeah that would be totally fine, worst case they say no & you still have your offer.

Perfectly fine to ask for more sign on bonus for an immediate decision to accept, and plus you got another tech company that matched the TC.

Sorry I wasn’t very clear in my original post. Citadel has already increased by 25K after telling them about the other company that matched. I’m now wondering if I could ask for an additional 25K in signing bonus and then I’ll sign (Not expecting 25K, thinking they’ll increase by 15K or something which I am fine with).

Worth a shot!

Btw out of curiosity, why move to Citadel from Google?

It’s an industry I’ve always been interested in, and I think I would learn a lot from their rotation program. I also think if I don’t try it now then I never will.

You have seen new grad offers for 400k, what was structure? That doesnt sound accurate.

Not in terms of TC, just year one; They shell out ridiculous sign-on bonuses for competitive grads

Google ULSz75 OP Nov 11, 2019

Exactly. What I’ve seen is 150 base, 150 sign on, and 100 target bonus

It looks kinda bad because you already asked them to increase their offer and are asking them again. They will ask you to give them a good reason to increase your offer. If you were to do it, I would come up with a good argument as to why you deserve it and tell them you'd sign if they were to give it to you

What’s the company that matched? Google?
