Basically title, got a really nice new grad (masters) offer for Cit Sec recently, and I liked the people I talked to in my interview circuit, but a little concerned by the bad reviews, WLB, etc. Friend of a friend who works there told me that Cit Sec is mostly okay culture the hate comes more from Citadel proper sucking, but something like 11 hour days are common (but he's a trader not an SWE). Leaning towards accepting since I can always quit after a year if I hate it, and I assume I'd have good exit opportunities in that case, but curious to hear other experiences/takes TC: grad school 🥜 Citadel offer: over 400k first year (a lot of that's sign-on bonus though) #citadelsecurities
Facebook is better than Citadel
In what ways?
Of the Citadel employees I’ve interacted with, a lot of them seem to be exceptionally unhappy. Citadel is only rated 3.4 on Blind, Facebook is 4.1. I know Blind ratings aren’t official but when there’s a 0.7-point difference that says something.
Take FB over citadel fr career growth
General advice: get phone calls with a few people on the team. Ask about hours, operational responsibilities, and team culture. Read between the lines. By reputation, the expectations are high but the comp is too (think seven figures for middle managers).
Yeah, I'm having a hard time finding numbers on comp scaling compared to tech companies, but I find it hard to believe it's worse if they're willing to pay 2x as much to start with. Cool, thanks
I had the same offer as you as a returning intern and turned it down
Citadel isn't for everyone. You definitely can't coast your way through, but if you genuinely like solving problems and having ownership I think you'll enjoy it. Also, this low comp growth myth is kinda strange. I know new grads who have stayed for 4-5 years getting 700k in just bonuses
I have a onsite coming up with them . What was the interview process like? Only leetcode or are they also asking language specific questions?
Was just leetcode, some basic system design, and behavioral questions for me
I interviewed there. The interviewer straight up told me if u can’t survive you’ll get cut
In some form that's true everywhere, no?
U think they tell u this in the interview everywhere?
