Hi On October 4th I gave interview to CITI bank for mid level Java developer position and I received a call from HR stating I am selected. On October 8th I have received verbal offer. I have accepted and on October 27 I have received mail from HR asking me to fill document related to pre hire forms for immigration to process OPT with CITI. I have filled and sent back. From that moment onwards I didn’t receive any update from HR. Could anyone please let me know will HRs in citi will take long time to process or whether they have rejected. It would be helpful if you people can let me know the hiring process and time frame in citi . Details : Position : Mid level Java developer Location : New York OPT status (International Student)
Citi is a huge bank and their HR department sucks. Took over 4 months to get a job from start to finish (have since left because of it).
What is the process they have followed in your case I mean following 1. How many rounds of interview 2. Verbal offer after final interview how many days 3. Immigration document process 4. Official offer letter how many days
Usually for any sponsoring company standard procedure - recruiter reaching out with verbal confirmation for work authorization - interview & on site - if everything goes well, then physical offer letted - then you receive invitation from lawyer firm for document submission and verification
Brown brothers Harriman May I know the work culture and technology wise is it good to consider citi ?
Nope .. very slow and bureaucratic .. tons of processes and audits .. not a good place to start your career. WLB is good but you'll probably lose your edge in the market with Citi's slowness .. way better options out there..
Brown brothers is a very good, stable and collaborative culture. Honestly the culture is rare and hard to find amongst many companies nowadays. Solid WLB. As for tech, it’s pretty good but might be outdated if you are a SWE (I am a front office banker by background).
The way to find H1 sponsoring companies is check out h1bdata.info ..
OP, May I ask you what visa processing is necessary for OPT. I am in a similar state with Citi. And I was of the impression that OPT(1st year) transfer should be quick and smooth.
Did you receive offer letter
No, not the official one
OP, are you still waiting for the offer letter? How long it took. I have received the verbal offer, now waiting for the offer letter. HR keeps saying he would send the letter after immigration review and it was expected to be done by this week. Sent an email to HR and the immigration personnel who took my pre hire form, but haven’t got any response. I am very tensed, h1B registration is starting next week.
Did you received your offer letter?
Did u get ur offer ?
What’s the offer?
Did u received offer letter? If yes, when? Have joined Citi?
Did you ever received physical offer letter? I don't want to scare you but once upon a time when I was applying jobs left and right , CITI denied my interviews (had applied to multiple positions) due to F1 OPT. They do H1 transfer without hassle but F1 thing is team dependent I think. Also, banks/fintechs take notoriously long time to process immigration but that's for H1 transfer. F1 should be quicker if you hace active EAD in hand. I can be wrong.
I didn’t receive offer letter. They said they are working on it.
I am little bit scared whether they will consider me or not ?
