Citi base comp - pre offer

Just received an email that Citi wants to make an offer, but wants me to say my target base comp prior to their offer. Looking for some feedback on what I should ask so I don’t disqualify myself. IT Security Program Manager in Tampa. Not sure what level the role is… Update: After getting that email, I got strong armed into saying a number. I gave them where I'm at now ($190). The recruiter told me their cap for this role was $155 at C13. The conversation ended awkwardly despite asking what the follow up would be, if we could look at this role as a C14, etc. Well, since then I've been ghosted. 2 weeks went by and I even reached out to the hiring manager who replied, got the recruiter to send me another email asking for my availability to talk, and then ghosted me again. Very upset at the candidate experience with #citi.

Seems unethical. You sure you wanna work for them given the trickery?

I’m not sure I would label it as trickery, but definitely an outdated process. Also, recruiting is only one part of the mix, I just want to maximize my offer to help determine if the move is worth it

Don't. Ask them the level and highest base they can do. I guess it is C14 level which compares to 160K to 200K base. Varies by Org.

Definitely do not recommend setting any comp expectation, DM if you need concrete tips on answering these kind of questions and negotiate with the recruiter.

If it is a Program Manager based in Tampa, I would make a guess that the base is around 160k-180k + Bonus. But definitely wouldn't recommend giving a number. If you have no idea, my usual way was to 30-40% of my current pay, if that works for you. Just my 2c.

Ask for 200k for c14 and 180k for c13. See what they say
