So an exec recruiter from Citi reached out and pitched in a ‘power’ role in their investment banking/wealth team. Told me comp was not an issue when I quoted ~$1.4M/year as the number that will make me comfy. She said yes- Next day, had a conv with the hiring manager. Poor guy was embarrassed- His current TC is like 40 percent lower than what I was asking LOL. Such a joke/ waste of time. Are all citi folks this incompetent or was this just back luck? #citibank sucks
What role is that comp for ?
None apparently
Managing director
Was a MD position.
Do they randomly reach out for a MD role? That's ridiculous. MD roles at GS, JP and MS entirely depend on the revenue and client you bring.
MD has time to browse Blind? shouldn't they be pitching deals with ultra riches from within a private jet?
Wtf you are making 1.4m? I am in the wrong field.
I understand OP is in investment banking, not tech.
Got dam, that tc is crazy if real.
Holy fuck $1.4M? Was this for front office MD role?
To clarify that was what I was asking, current TC is around 1.
What’s MD?
What's your YoE? Are you very old?
Citi everything is a joke. Their app Their website Their credit products Their checking /savings accounts. They are a bunch of comics over there 😆
Anything to get you to accept the meeting lol
I too would be embarrassed by $850,000 😭
I feel all finance exec recruiters are like that.
I hope that hiring manager gave that HR recruiter a dressing down, just wasted everyone's time and now made that hiring manager feel crap about themselves.
I know- at least we guys are upfront at GS that our comp sucks 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Most likely the recruiter is same race/ nationality as the hiring manager so no dressing down. Plus if the manager is getting kick backs from hiring recruiter candidates. He will overlook this mistake.
