Cleared Amazon interview but no Requisition

Cleared interview at amazon palo alto, and both recruiter and hiring manager said they like me and would like me coming onboard. 2 days later, gave me a call saying they ran out of requisitions and would need at least 2 weeks for next batch of requisition. Never seen this before. Is this an excuse or should I actually wait? This is for a SWE1 role. I have 2yoe.

Wait. They would’ve said no if they didn’t want you

I wouldn't "wait" (i.e. Put everything on hold) for them. But don't give them the middle finger either. Keep applying elsewhere in the meantime and if you want to give them the middle finger do it after you secure another offer and use Amazon as leverage in your negotiations 😉

Happened to me in multiple companies though never at the offer stage.

Lol "2 yoe" "Never seen this before..." Unless you have better offers knocking down your door tonight, why would you not wait? Yes I would wait 2wks for Amazon as a SWE1... and congrats man, be patient

It's not a place with waiting for Glassdoor reviews are like 2/5

You can potentially asked them to match other teams

This happened to me for an internship at Amazon. Then they never responded. Lol

I would be patient, a low level req is easy to come by for a manager - but it takes pleading to multiple levels. I was hired 3rd as a fresh grad when I knew 2 req's existed

How long did it take to get your req?
