Cleared positions around DC - boutique shop or Amazon?

Current govvie looking to make the jump to something a little more lucrative. Two most compelling offers right now are: Amazon - TC $200k which is roughly 50% base, 25 % yearly bonuses, 25 % RSU/signing. Very little PTO, boring work. Small government contractor - TC $175k, almost all base pay. Way better PTO (almost as good as govvie), maybe more interesting work. WLB seems like it'll be much better with the no-name place, but hopping on with AMZN now in the DC area seems like a good way to ride the rise of HQ2 and either climb the ladder there or jump to another FAANG. Current TC - $125k (but chill af government job with a pension).

If the goal is to use the logo and experience to jump to something else pretty quick then it might not be so bad to be in a crazy environment like that. The small company gig is definitely somewhere I could chill a long time if I wanted to, but I feel like I'd be running up against the TC limits for that kind of work.

It’s up to you, I know a few who moved teams and then swear they would never go back. Security is at the core of aws and the oncall can be literally 24:7 for the time you are there.. but yes it is highly respected. If you can get a different swe position aws is a great platform but just be vary of the wlb once you join sec
